Our main event, every year. A family friendly trick or treat day with bouncy castles, food vendors, best-dressed prizes and, for the brave, a walk-through that is considerably less family friendly.

Every scream raises a dollar
We are a crew of volunteers who take Halloween far too seriously, and hand every cent of it to Northland children's charities. Come and get frightened. It is for a very good cause.

What we do
Three ways we part Whangārei from its money
All of it run by volunteers, in our own time, with props we built in the shed. None of us takes a cent.
Horror walk-throughs
The part of the night that is not for small children. We build the rooms, black out the route, and fill it with people whose only job is to make you regret coming in. Enter if you dare.
Raffles, balls and bad ideas
A Victorian gothic ball. A raffle for a ride in a McLaren. If it raises money for Northland tamariki, we will put on the makeup and do it.
Charities Northland Horror has raised money for: Heart Kids Northland, Kind Hands, Children With Disability, I Have A Dream, Glass Ceiling Arts Collective.
Where the money goes
Every dollar stays in Northland
We started in 2019 with a handful of volunteers and a few costumes, joining a Heads Up Halloween event. The first one we ran ourselves, at Whareora Hall in 2021, raised just under $2,000 for Heart Kids Northland.
Since then we have handed over cheques to a growing list of local children's causes, including roughly $5,000 to Kind Hands in 2022, toward their respite care cottage - enough to help another ten families.

We are always short of monsters
You do not need experience, a costume, or any particular talent for screaming. You need one free weekend and a willingness to be shouted at by a nine year old in a Spider-Man suit.
